Vientiane – On Friday, January 24, Laos' Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported that several cities across the country are experiencing the impacts of air pollution, with PM2.5 levels reaching unhealthy thresholds.

The report highlighted that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital, Vientiane, has reached a significantly unhealthy level, with PM2.5 concentrations at 152 micrograms per cubic meter. This far exceeds the safety standard of 50 micrograms per cubic meter.

In addition, provinces such as Vientiane, Bolikhamxay, and Attapeu have also recorded PM2.5 concentrations above 96 micrograms per cubic meter, levels that are similarly deemed hazardous to health.
