Bangkok, Thailand – Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) has announced its readiness to establish a Faculty of Nursing, with Associate Professor Dr. Darunee Rujkorakarn as the dean, highlighting its vision to produce quality nurses to meet the growing demand for medical personnel in an aging society, while enhancing wellness skills and foreign language proficiency to open up opportunities for work at the international level. Currently, preparations are underway to open the Bachelor of Nursing Science program, which is under consideration by the Nursing Council.

Associate Professor Dr. Darunee Rujkorakarn, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at DPU, revealed that Thailand is currently facing a shortage of nurses, with a nurse-to-population ratio of 1:350, which is lower than the World Health Organization's (WHO) global nurse demand forecast of 1:270. The establishment of the DPU Faculty of Nursing is another important step in addressing this problem, focusing on developing the quality of education and nursing personnel by combining work experience from both the public and private sectors, as well as incorporating DPU's identity concept of creating a positive impact on the country's society and economy.

The DPU Faculty of Nursing has the following key features:

- Intensive Curriculum: The 4-year curriculum covers both theory and practice, with an emphasis on hands-on experience in leading network hospitals, covering primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

- Wellness Enhancement: Integrating wellness knowledge into the curriculum to provide graduates with a comprehensive understanding of health care.

- Developing Language Proficiency: Promoting the learning of English and third languages such as Japanese and Chinese to increase opportunities for working at the international level.

- Promoting Entrepreneurship: Supporting students to develop their potential to become entrepreneurs, such as opening wellness clinics, rehabilitation centers or elderly care facilities.

"We want to produce quality nursing graduates with knowledge, ability, diverse skills and compassion, ready to face the challenges of the future world, diverse societies and a fully aging society," said Associate Professor Dr. Darunee.
