Bangkok, Thailand | 9 July 2026 — The Thai Medical and Wellness Tourism Association (TMWTA), in collaboration with ArokaGO, Thailand’s medical and wellness tourism platform, presented key industry insights and strategic directions for the future of Thailand’s medical and wellness tourism sector during WHX Bangkok 2026, held from 8 - 10 July 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok.
The session took place on Thursday, 9 July 2026, from 15.30 to 16.45 hrs. at Hall 5A, bringing together healthcare providers, wellness operators, tourism businesses, association members, partners, and stakeholders from the medical and wellness tourism ecosystem.
The event featured a seminar and special lecture focusing on the future direction of Medical & Wellness Tourism (MWT), business development strategies for members and networks, and the role of digital marketing and artificial intelligence in helping Thai providers compete in the global health tourism market.
The session opened with a strategic update by Dr. Anusak Kongmalai, President of the Thai Medical and Wellness Tourism Association (TMWTA), who shared perspectives on the direction of Thailand’s medical and wellness tourism industry, as well as strategies to strengthen the business capabilities of TMWTA members and the broader MWT network.

Dr. Anusak emphasized the importance of collaboration among healthcare providers, wellness businesses, tourism operators, public agencies, academic institutions, and private-sector partners. He highlighted that Thailand’s competitiveness in medical and wellness tourism depends not only on high-quality healthcare and wellness services, but also on the ability to build a connected ecosystem that supports innovation, trust, service standards, international market access, and sustainable growth.
Special Lecture: Empowering Modern Medical & Wellness Tourism Businesses with METB
A special lecture titled “Empowering METB for Modern Medical and Wellness Tourism Businesses: Digital Marketing and Practical AI for Targeted Growth” was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Kulabutr Komenkul, Committee Member of TMWTA and CEO & Co-Founder of ArokaGO, Thailand’s medical and wellness tourism platform.

Dr. Kulabutr is also the Director of the Executive MBA Program and a lecturer in Finance, Investment, and Financial Technology at the College of Innovative Business and Accountancy, Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU).
In his presentation, Dr. Kulabutr explained why digital transformation and artificial intelligence are becoming essential for healthcare and wellness businesses. He noted that today’s health consumers, especially international patients and wellness travelers, no longer wait for information from providers. Instead, they search online, compare services, read reviews, ask AI tools, and make early decisions before contacting hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, spas, or medical tourism platforms.
He emphasized that digital presence is now the first touchpoint of trust. For Thai providers, being online is no longer enough. Providers must be searchable, credible, understandable, responsive, and ready to be recommended by both customers and AI-powered search systems.

From SEO to AEO and GEO
A key part of the lecture introduced the framework of SEO, AEO, and GEO for medical and wellness tourism businesses.
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, helps providers become searchable on platforms such as Google. This allows international customers to find Thai healthcare and wellness providers when searching for services such as health checkups, dental care, aesthetic treatments, wellness retreats, longevity programs, rehabilitation, or IV therapy in Thailand.
AEO, or Answer Engine Optimization, focuses on making content clear enough to answer customer questions directly. For example, international customers may ask: “Which health checkup package is suitable for a five-day trip to Thailand?” or “How do I choose a trusted dental implant provider in Bangkok?” Providers must therefore prepare service pages, FAQs, package details, preparation guidelines, aftercare information, and English-language content that clearly answer these questions.
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, refers to the readiness of a business to be understood, trusted, summarized, and recommended by generative AI tools. Dr. Kulabutr explained that in the AI era, the goal is no longer only to rank on search engines. The new goal is to be found, understood, trusted, and recommended.
For medical and wellness tourism businesses, this means provider profiles must include clear service information, professional credentials, licenses, reviews, trust signals, international patient support, and structured content that can be interpreted by both humans and AI systems.
