The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), is organizing the grand "VIJIT CHAO PHRAYA 2024" event, a spectacular light and cultural showcase along the Chao Phraya River. The event will take place from November 16 to December 15, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, aiming to boost year-end tourism and attract both domestic and international visitors. The goal is to generate over 1 billion baht in economic circulation. The event was inaugurated by notable officials, including Mr. Suwong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Ms. Thirarat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, alongside various diplomats, representatives, and national soft power strategy partners.

Minister's Statement

Mr. Suwong Thienthong emphasized the government's intention to create a joyful and festive year-end atmosphere through "VIJIT CHAO PHRAYA 2024." This major event is part of the Thailand Winter Festivals 2024, transforming the Chao Phraya River into a vibrant attraction with lights and cultural performances. It highlights Thailand's traditional arts and modern architecture, enhancing Bangkok's charm while offering opportunities for businesses such as dinner cruises, tour boats, hotels, and riverside restaurants. The event is expected to attract over 500,000 visitors, driving significant domestic and international tourism.

Event Highlights

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaiboon, Governor of TAT, stated that the event marks its third consecutive year, organized with 360-degree collaboration between public and private sectors. It creatively integrates Thai cultural assets with modern multimedia innovations, including stunning fireworks displays. Part of the "7 Wonders of Thailand" concept under the Thailand Winter Festivals, the event includes themes such as lighting festivals, music, sports, food, culture, and a countdown celebration, all designed to promote domestic travel.
