Radiation Treatment Process

1. CT Simulation
Simulation of the patient’s sleeping position with the equipment used, and CT imaging to determine the location of the lesion. The resulting images are then generated in 3D, clearly showing the shape of the tumor and surrounding vital organs. This helps determine the location of the lesion to be treated. The average treatment time is 60 minutes.

2. Treatment Plan Calculation and Review
Treatment Planning
The CT simulation images are used to plan the treatment using a 3D/4D computerized treatment planning system. The radiation dose is calculated using the correct treatment technique and a 3D radiation dose distribution is displayed in the targeted area to ensure compliance with the treatment plan. The resulting treatment plan is then quality-checked before radiation is administered to each patient. This average time is 1-3 days.

3. Radiation Treatment
Patients will receive radiation treatment according to the prescribed treatment plan. The treatment site is checked using a 3D computerized tomography (CBCT) system before radiation therapy begins. The LINAC then rotates 360 degrees around the patient, taking an average of 30 minutes.

4. Treatment Site Monitoring During Radiation Therapy

During the treatment period, the patient will be monitored regularly using a 2D/3D computed tomography (CT) system to determine the location of the lesion and the progression of the disease to ensure the correct treatment is delivered to the location planned by the physician.

5. Treatment Monitoring

During the treatment period, the patient will be monitored weekly by the radiation oncologist to monitor the lesion, progression of the disease, and any side effects during treatment.

6. Post-treatment Monitoring

Once the patient has completed the radiation therapy treatment plan, the radiation oncologist will schedule regular follow-up appointments for post-treatment follow-ups.
