Modern Equipment

1. Special diagnostic radiology examination without the use of radiation agents.

• Ultrasonography such as Ultrasound upper abdomen to examines abnormalities in the upper abdominal organs, including liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, spleen and kidneys.

2. Special diagnostic radiological examination with the use of radiation agent.

• Barium swallowing examination, examination of swallowing and choking, examination of esophageal peristalsis and esophagus disorder.
• Upper GI examination, examination of swallowing function and esophagus, examination of stomach and duodenum  
• Long GI examination, examination of swallowing function, inspection of stomach and small intestine to check on inflammation and disorders.  
• BE (Barium Enema) examination to check for colon abnormalities

 3. Computerrised Tomography (Spiral CT Scan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)​

• Gastroscopy for diagnosis of diseases of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum

• Sigmoidoscopy for diagnosis and treatment peripheral colitis

• EVS, EVL (Endoscopic variceal treatment) for treatment of esophageal aneurysms
• PEG (Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) for insertion of a feeding line through the abdomen to avoid surgery
• Diagnostic RECP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) for diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the biliary tract and pancreas using endoscopy to avoid surgery.
• Therapeutic ERCP (Sphincterotomy, Stone extraction) for treatment of bile ducts such as cholangiocarcinoma and gallstones

4. GI Pathology: accurate pathological examination

5.Intervention Radiology: Use of X-ray techniques in non-surgical treatment.

• TOCE (Transcatheter oily chemo-embolization) is applied in cases where the tumor cannot be surgically removed due to large size. The method is usually done by a radiologist by inserting a small cord through the liver artery to administer chemical directly into the tumor and to block the main blood vessel that feeds the tumor. In some cases, when the tumor is smaller and does not spread elsewhere, surgery may be performed to remove it altogether.
• FNA (Fine needle aspiration) and Liver Biopsy. Performing biopsy on the liver for diagnosis of tissue and cell in case of suspicious lump which can turn into liver cancer or inflammation.

 6.The Urea Breath Test is used to detect Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection.

At present, it is found to be one of the causes of gastric ulcer and stomach cancer. This is a breath examination without endoscopy (measuring amount of 13C)
