AYUTTHAYA, Thailand  Halloween takes on a distinctly Thai twist this year as the “Ayutthaya Halloween Night Run 2026” invites runners and thrill-seekers to brave a six-kilometer haunted course at Thung Hantra in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya on October 31, 2026. The event combines a night run with Thai-inspired ghost experiences, live entertainment, a costume contest, food stalls and 10 scare zones along the route.

Thailand’s historic city of Ayutthaya is preparing for a different kind of night tourism experience this Halloween, bringing together exercise, entertainment and local cultural elements in one evening event.

The Ayutthaya Halloween Night Run 2026 will take place on October 31, 2026, at Thung Hantra in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, with the run scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The main course covers approximately six kilometers, but this is not designed as a conventional road race. Instead, participants will encounter a series of Halloween-themed experiences and characters as they make their way through the course.

A 6K Run Through 10 Haunted Zones

The organizers are preparing 10 scare zones along the six-kilometer route, transforming the night run into an interactive Halloween experience.

The setting adds another dimension to the event. Thung Hantra is associated with the history of the former Ayutthaya Kingdom, allowing organizers to combine the atmosphere of Thailand’s ancient capital with a contemporary Halloween theme.

Rather than focusing solely on finishing times, the event is designed around participation, entertainment and the experience of running through a series of spooky environments after dark.

Runners Can Choose Their Own Scare Level

One of the event’s most distinctive features is a color-coded wristband system that allows participants to choose how intensely they want to be scared.

Runners selecting a red wristband are signaling that they are ready for the highest scare level. Orange offers a moderate experience, while yellow is intended for those who want to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere with fewer scares.

Characters positioned along the route will adjust their interactions according to the wristband selected by each participant.

The concept gives runners greater control over their experience and makes the event accessible not only to hardcore horror fans but also to visitors who simply want to enjoy a fun Halloween night in Ayutthaya.

Thai Culture Meets Halloween

Ayutthaya Halloween Night Run also incorporates distinctly local elements into the event.

Registered participants are set to receive a race BIB, drinking water, food and a finisher medal, as well as a limited-edition event sticker.

Another unusual souvenir is a “Krop Phet” sacred cloth from Wat Hantra, adding a Thai cultural and spiritual element to the Halloween theme.

The event program also incorporates Wat Hantra and references the historical legacy of King Borommakot, one of the monarchs of the Ayutthaya period.

By bringing local history and cultural references into the event, organizers are creating a Halloween experience that differs from the Western-style haunted attractions commonly associated with the festival.

Concert, Ghost Costume Contest and Halloween Food Market

The experience continues beyond the running course.

The event will feature a live concert, food market, activity zone, aerobic warm-up session and Thai-inspired Halloween photo spots, giving visitors activities to enjoy before and after the race.

Participants are also encouraged to dress for the occasion, with a ghost-themed costume competition offering more than 10 prizes across playful categories ranging from frightening costumes to cute and creative interpretations of ghosts.

The combination of sport and entertainment is intended to turn the evening into a broader Halloween festival rather than simply a running event.

A Different Way to Experience Ayutthaya After Dark

Ayutthaya is internationally recognized for its temples, archaeological sites and cultural heritage, making it one of Thailand’s most important historical tourism destinations.

The Halloween Night Run introduces another way for visitors to experience the province, particularly after sunset.

Travelers could spend the daytime exploring Ayutthaya’s historical attractions before joining the night run and Halloween activities in the evening.

The event therefore represents an example of event tourism, where sports, entertainment and local identity are combined to create new reasons to visit a destination and potentially encourage travelers to stay longer.

Ayutthaya Halloween Night Run 2026: What to Know

The Ayutthaya Halloween Night Run 2026 will take place on October 31, 2026, at Thung Hantra, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.

The six-kilometer run begins at 7:00 p.m., with registration currently open. Participants can register through pixme.photos, while event information and updates are available through Ayutthaya Tourism and Sports.

For travelers looking for something different this Halloween, the event offers an opportunity to combine a trip to Thailand’s ancient capital with an evening of running, local culture and Halloween entertainment  with one important decision to make before reaching the starting line: How scared do you want to be?
