Bangkok Ranks 2nd as "World’s Best Food City" in 2025

In 2025, a global survey was conducted to rank the best food cities in the world. To determine the leading food capitals of today, thousands of people were surveyed about the food scene in their cities. Residents were asked to evaluate their local food scene based on 18 criteria, including quality, value for money, and uniqueness, ranging from ‘family-friendly’ to ‘experimental’. Each city was ranked based on its quality and value scores, along with ratings from a panel of food experts.

According to the survey, 86% of Bangkok residents rated the city's food as either 'good' or 'excellent,' while 47% of food experts voted Bangkok as one of the world's top food cities. This propelled Bangkok to the No. 2 spot on Time Out’s global ranking of the Best Food Cities of 2025, up from No. 6 last year, second only to New Orleans. Bangkok's rise in ranking is attributed to its delicious flavors and convenience, making quality food easily and quickly accessible through both street food and delivery services.

When asked to describe Bangkok’s globally renowned street food scene, the most common responses from locals were ‘delicious,’ followed by ‘fast and convenient’ and ‘diverse.’
