DestinAsian's Readers' Choice Awards, which include rankings for various categories such as cities, islands, hotels, airlines, airports, and cruise destinations, are eagerly anticipated by readers each year. In the Best Cities 2024 category for travel destinations in the Asia Pacific region, Bangkok emerged as the frontrunner, surpassing cities like Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The significance of Thailand's tourism sector cannot be overstated, with Thai islands also earning recognition. Phuket secured the 3rd position, followed closely by Koh Samui in 4th place, after Bali and the Maldives.
Moreover, Suvarnabhumi Airport was ranked the 2nd best airport, showcasing Thailand's commitment to excellence in transportation infrastructure. Thai Airways also earned accolades, ranking 3rd in the best airline category, while Bangkok Airways secured the 2nd spot in the best low-cost airline category.
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's administration places great emphasis on tourism development, recognizing its importance as a key industry in Thailand. Measures such as visa-free entry for tourists from many countries and amendments to regulations hindering tourism have been implemented. Safety for tourists is also a top priority, aimed at fostering confidence among travelers.

These initiatives aim to solidify Thailand's position as a regional leader.
