The College of Integrative Medicine (CIMw) at Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) is preparing to launch two new programs: Integrative Nutrition in Functional Medicine and Health and Beauty Business Management. Both programs will be offered at the master's and doctoral levels to meet the growing demand for health-conscious individuals and the expanding global health business trends.

Asst. Prof. Mart Maiprasert, M.D., Dean of CIMw, revealed the concept behind the Integrative Nutrition in Functional Medicine program. Over the past 14 years, the Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine program has gained popularity and continued to grow, reflecting the increasing demand among doctors and the general public who seek to enhance their knowledge of health and anti-aging practices. Initially, the program mainly attracted new medical graduates, but now it also draws specialized physicians, executives, business owners, and the general public, including influencers who are interested in participating.

Focus on addressing the root cause of health problems through nutritional science

In an era where social media promotes trends in food supplements and nutraceuticals, CIMw recognizes the importance of developing a new program focused on nutrition to meet the needs of today's society. The program under development is Integrative Nutrition in Functional Medicine, which combines nutrition with Functional Medicine, emphasizing addressing the root cause of health problems rather than treating them when diseases occur. This aligns with the needs of an era where people prioritize sustainable health care and the prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, bone diseases, and immune deficiencies. It also emphasizes the role of nutrition and nutrients that have been researched and proven to help slow down aging and promote long-term health.

"This program is designed for those who want to further their knowledge, such as nutritionists who want to advance themselves at the master's and doctoral levels, as well as individuals in the health science field such as doctors, pharmacists, and dentists. Those without a background in health science but interested in learning can also participate, with specialized preparation provided before the start of the program. We are confident that this new program will help build comprehensive knowledge in nutrition and truly meet the needs of today's society," said Dean CIMw.

Enhancing business administration skills to support the health and beauty industry

Asst. Prof. Mart Maiprasert, M.D. continued that the Health and Beauty Business Management program is designed to meet the needs of executives and business owners who want modern management skills. In an era where digital technology, 5G, and AI play a significant role, this program will integrate management science with health and beauty business trends. It aims to enable learners to understand management that is in line with current technology and consumer behavior, focusing on developing entrepreneurs and personnel in the health business to have the highest capabilities in resource management, business development to accommodate new trends such as Anti-Aging, Wellness, and Aesthetics, as well as meeting domestic and international needs.

"The health and beauty business is one of the three major businesses in the world and is in line with the government's policy to support the health economy in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) to push Thailand to become a regional health center. This new program is designed to suit business people, health scientists, and the general public who want to increase their knowledge and ability in business administration that responds to future world trends, as well as students who have graduated with a master's degree in health science and are looking for opportunities to further their studies at the doctoral level in administration. It will help drive the potential of learners and meet market demands in the long term," said Dean CIMw.

Creating comprehensive personnel to meet the needs of the new era of health trends

Asst. Prof. Mart Maiprasert, M.D. added that in addition to the two new programs offered at the master's and doctoral levels, CIMw has also developed a program in Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine, adding a doctoral program in Aesthetic Medicine, which builds on the success of the master's level Anti-Aging program, which has been running for 13 generations, and the master's level Aesthetic Medicine program, which has been running for 3 generations, to meet the needs of those who wish to study at a higher level. It aims to build comprehensive knowledge in aesthetic medicine, from skin care to developing skills in aesthetic technology such as Botox injections, fillers, laser use, and safe standard clinical practice. Students in this program also gain knowledge of dermatology to effectively manage complex problems in patients.

"The highlight of this program is that it is the first program in Thailand that focuses on aesthetic medicine in a comprehensive scientific and practical way. Previously, doctors interested in this field had to rely on short courses or study abroad, but DPU has met this need by creating a program that emphasizes both theoretical and practical aspects. It also provides opportunities for medical experts in other fields, such as cosmetic science, to further their studies at the doctoral level more easily to develop experts who can meet the growing demands of the beauty market today," added Dean CIMw.

However, CIMw continues to develop a variety of learning programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, as well as short certification courses suitable for modern learners, which focus on learning to develop specific skills rather than long-term studies to create personnel who can support the beauty industry, such as pharmacy assistants and dental assistants. This is another important goal of DPU, which focuses on creating personnel to support the growing health and beauty market and prepare for the future with comprehensive knowledge and skills.
