New Delhi, India – April 2-6, 2025 – Dr. Nattawut Wanumkarng took the international stage at the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) 2025 Congress held in New Delhi, sharing his two decades of expertise in Endonasal Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) with a global audience of ophthalmologists.

In his presentation, Dr. Nattawut introduced a refined surgical approach combining nasal flap suturing with 45-degree bone estimation—a technique he has perfected over 20 years. The method has gained widespread recognition for its remarkable effectiveness, achieving a 99% success rate and being hailed as a unique advancement in lacrimal surgery worldwide.

The APAO Congress, one of the most prestigious ophthalmology gatherings in the Asia-Pacific region, welcomed participants from across the globe. As of December 2024, 27 national, regional, or territorial societies have joined APAO as full or associate members. The organization currently represents nearly 120,000 ophthalmologists across the Asia-Pacific—59% of the world’s total—underscoring the region’s pivotal role in advancing eye care.

With national and regional subspecialty societies under its umbrella, APAO continues to provide a platform for innovation, collaboration, and excellence in ophthalmology. Dr. Nattawut’s presentation exemplified the kind of pioneering work the APAO aims to showcase, further cementing his reputation as a leader in oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery.
