Foreign Tourists Flock to Thailand, Reaching 6 Million in 2025's featured image

From the beginning of 2025 to the end of February, Thailand welcomed over 6 million foreign tourists, generating more than 310,415 million baht in revenue. Although some tourist groups have slowed down during this period, the overall trend is expected to continue growing due to tourism promotion efforts and confidence in safety measures.

Mr.Suang Theintong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, revealed preliminary estimates of tourist numbers. From January 1 to February 23, 2025, over 6 million foreign tourists have visited Thailand.

In the past week, tourist arrivals slowed across all market segments. Short-haul market tourists, such as those from Malaysia, delayed their travels due to the upcoming fasting season at the end of February. Meanwhile, long-haul market tourists also slowed down as it marks the end of the high tourist season.

As a result, the total number of foreign tourists this week was 763,353, a decrease of 20,822 (2.66%) from the previous week, averaging 109,050 foreign tourists per day.

The top five foreign tourist nationalities were Malaysia (94,656), China (72,111), Russia (58,201), India (50,115), and South Korea (42,078). Indian tourists showed a 17.54% increase compared to the previous week.

In contrast, tourists from China, Russia, Malaysia, and South Korea decreased by 20.52%, 3.27%, 2.45%, and 1.89%, respectively, compared to the previous week.

For the following week, foreign tourist arrivals are expected to stabilize due to factors such as the declaration of 2025 as the "Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year," tourism and sports promotion activities, efforts to boost confidence in safety for Chinese tourists, the government's "Ease of Traveling" measures to facilitate travel to Thailand, the exemption of the TM6 form, and initiatives to encourage airlines to increase flight frequencies.

As of February 24, 2025, Thailand has welcomed a cumulative total of 6,352,404 foreign tourists since January 1, generating approximately 310,415 million baht in tourism revenue.

The top five nationalities of tourists are China (988,451), Malaysia (809,317), Russia (448,995), South Korea (348,537), and India (325,580).
