In an exciting announcement, Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew, the Minister of Public Health (Thailand), has unveiled plans for Nan City to become the first healthy city in Thailand and a groundbreaking model for health worldwide. This ambitious initiative is in line with Thailand's broader healthcare policy, which aims to revolutionize health services and accessibility.

Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew emphasized that Nan Province is fully committed to developing in alignment with all aspects of the policy, including responding to royal initiative projects and upgrading health services that can be accessed with a single ID card. Nan City is poised to lead the way in becoming Thailand's inaugural healthy city, setting a global precedent for the integration of healthcare, society, and the economy.

Today, on September 23, 2023, Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew, accompanied by Wing Commander Dr. Ponthep Suntharo, Secretary to the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Nuansakul Bamrungphong, Advisory Group to the Minister of Public Health, and Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, along with the executive committee of the Ministry of Public Health, visited Nan Province to assess and encourage healthcare personnel at Nan Provincial Public Health Office, Nan Hospital, and Wiang Sa Hospital.

Nan Province, despite its relatively small population of 470,000 people, is determined to align with the Ministry of Public Health's 2024 forward-moving policy, encompassing various aspects, including the royal initiative projects related to His Majesty the King. These projects involve hospitals such as Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospital, Chaloem Phrakiat Hospital, Chaloem Phrakiat Health Station, and Suksala Royal Award. The plan includes expanding hospital capabilities, enhancing healthcare services, and facilitating access to care with a single ID card.

Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew stated, "Every Nan person has the right to receive treatment everywhere," emphasizing the importance of shared resources and collaboration between healthcare facilities, such as Nan Hospital - Phu Phiang, Tha Wang Pha Hospital - Song Kwae, and Na Noi - Na Muen Hospital, as a model for efficient healthcare delivery.

Additionally, Nan Province, renowned for its natural beauty and tourism appeal, aims to position itself as an ideal destination for wellness and healthcare-focused tourism. Dr. Chonlanan envisions Nan City as a "healthy city" or "blue zone," not only in Thailand but also on the global stage. This initiative aims to serve as a pioneering "Nan model" for the seamless integration of healthcare, society, and the economy.

Nan Province's commitment to becoming the first healthy city in Thailand and a global exemplar for health and well-being signifies a bold step towards a brighter and healthier future for its residents and visitors alike.
