Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) was officially elevated from a 3-star to a 4-star airport in the latest announcement by Skytrax, a UK-based global air transport rating and advisory organization, released on September 12, 2025.
The upgrade reflects continuous improvements across multiple service areas. Airport staff — including passenger service, immigration, and security teams — have enhanced service quality to create a smooth and pleasant travel experience. Advanced technology has also been introduced, such as automated passport control and faster check-in queue management.
Facilities have been steadily upgraded, including renovated restrooms, clearer signage, more charging stations, and faster, more stable Wi-Fi. Plans are underway to add new amenities, including a Kids and Gaming Zone, a relaxing co-working space, and contemporary art and cultural exhibitions.
Handling over 60 million passengers annually, Suvarnabhumi serves as Thailand’s main gateway, connecting domestic and international routes. Achieving a 4-star Skytrax rating reinforces the airport’s high service standards and its commitment to ongoing development, with a clear goal of becoming a 5-star airport in the near future.
