Ubonrak Thonburi Hospital has received the 2026 Outstanding Public Toilet Award for Thailand’s Health Region 10, recognizing its standards in hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand — Ubonrak Thonburi Hospital has been recognized with the “Outstanding Public Toilet of the Year 2026” award for Thailand’s Health Region 10, highlighting the hospital’s efforts to maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and safety for patients and visitors.
The hospital received a certificate of recognition on August 31, 2026, after being selected for the regional award by Health Promotion Center Region 10 Ubon Ratchathani, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health.
The recognition was presented during the “BEYOND SUCCESS: POWER OF PARTNERSHIP” workshop, which brought together organizations and stakeholders involved in promoting public health standards across the region.

While public restroom quality may appear to be a small part of the overall healthcare experience, hygiene and sanitation are important components of creating a safe and accessible environment for patients, visitors and healthcare workers.
Hospitals serve large numbers of people every day, making the cleanliness and management of shared facilities particularly important.
The award recognizes Ubonrak Thonburi Hospital’s efforts to continuously improve standards related to sanitation, cleanliness and safety, contributing to the overall environment and well-being of people using the hospital’s services.
The hospital credited the achievement to cooperation among its management team and staff across different departments, who have worked together to maintain and improve hygiene standards.
Quality healthcare extends beyond diagnosis and treatment.
The physical environment of a hospital including waiting areas, patient rooms, shared spaces and sanitation facilities can influence patients’ overall experience and perception of healthcare quality.
Clean, safe and properly maintained public restrooms are particularly important in healthcare settings, where patients may include older adults, children, people with disabilities and individuals with underlying medical conditions.
Maintaining appropriate sanitation standards can therefore contribute to both patient comfort and a safer healthcare environment.
The recognition reflects broader efforts to improve environmental health standards in healthcare facilities and other public spaces.
For hospitals, maintaining high standards across all areas of the facility can support a culture in which patient safety, cleanliness and service quality are treated as shared organizational responsibilities.
Ubonrak Thonburi Hospital said the achievement resulted from collaboration across the organization and its continuing commitment to improving hygiene, cleanliness and safety for patients and visitors.
The award adds another dimension to healthcare quality by emphasizing that a positive patient experience depends not only on medical treatment, but also on the quality, safety and cleanliness of the environment in which healthcare is delivered.
