SYDNEY — A long-term study by the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at the University of New South Wales in Australia has found that teenagers who begin drinking alcohol as early as age 12 face a significantly higher risk of alcohol-related harm in early adulthood.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the international spread of poliovirus continues to constitute a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), following the 43rd meeting of the Emergency Committee under the International Health Regulations (IHR) held on 1 October 2025.
