The IVF process is a carefully coordinated series of steps designed to support fertilization, implantation, and pregnancy, something our team at Bangkok Central Clinic has successfully guided patients through for many years. Whether you’re just beginning to explore your options or already preparing for treatment, understanding what happens at each stage can help you feel more informed and confident throughout the journey.
Our IVF program is tailored to each patient’s unique needs, from the first consultation to the exciting moment of a positive pregnancy test. With decades of combined clinical experience and access to advanced technology, our specialists ensure each step of the process is approached with precision and compassion.
Your IVF journey begins with a consultation where you’ll meet with a fertility specialist to review your medical history, discuss any previous treatments, and outline your goals. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and explore whether IVF is right for you.
Before starting treatment, you’ll undergo a series of fertility evaluations. For women, this includes hormone blood tests and ultrasound scans. Men provide a semen sample to assess sperm count and quality. These tests help our team design a personalized plan for your IVF cycle.
You’ll begin hormone treatment to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This typically involves daily injections for 10–14 days, with regular monitoring to track progress. Ultrasounds and blood tests ensure your body is responding well.
Once your eggs are ready, you’ll receive a trigger shot, and about 36 hours later, the eggs are collected through a minor surgical procedure performed under anesthesia. Most patients return home the same day.
The eggs are combined with sperm in the lab. In some cases, ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) may be used to assist fertilization. Fertilized eggs (now embryos) are monitored over several days as they grow. Our lab team follows strict protocols and leverages high-quality equipment to support healthy embryo development under optimal conditions.
After 3–5 days, the best-quality embryo(s) are selected and transferred into the uterus using a thin catheter. This is a simple, non-surgical procedure that usually doesn’t require anesthesia. Any remaining healthy embryos can be frozen for future use.
Following the transfer, you’ll take medication (typically progesterone) to support the uterine lining and improve the chances of implantation. This stage is closely monitored by your care team.
A blood test is done about two weeks after the transfer to check for pregnancy. Our clinic provides guidance and expert care during this emotionally sensitive stage. If the result is positive, we’ll continue to monitor you through early pregnancy with ultrasounds and check-ins to ensure everything is progressing well.
