• Video EEG Monitoring (VEM): Continuous EEG recording with simultaneous video recording during the clinical manifestations of seizures provides a correlation between the patient's behavior and EEG activity, aiding in pinpointing the origin of seizures. 

• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Powerful magnets and radio waves create detailed images of the brain to detect any lesions or abnormalities that may be causing seizures. 

• Functional MRI (fMRI): This test measures changes in blood flow to identify critical brain functions, such as movement and speech, to avoid injuring those areas during surgery. 

• Interictal SPECT (Single-photon emission computerized tomography): Used when MRI and EEG fail to pinpoint the seizure location, this test helps identify the seizure focus when the patient is seizure-free for at least 24 hours. 

• Ictal SPECT (Single-photon emission computerized tomography): It pinpoints the seizure focus by injecting a small amount of low-dose radioactive material to create a detailed map of blood flow activity during seizures. 

• Interictal PET (Positron emission tomography): PET scans visualize active areas of the brain using low-dose radioactive substances, particularly useful when patients do not have seizure symptoms. 

• Functional mapping: This procedure is performed in patients with implanted electrodes to determine critical areas of the brain, such as motor, sensory, and language functions, and their overlap with seizure-generating regions. 

• Neuropsychological tests and Wada test: These tests assess thinking, memory, speech skills, and language and memory function, helping determine the affected areas of the brain and predict post-operative deficits. 

• Continuous EEG monitoring in the ICU: In neurocritical care settings, continuous EEG monitoring is used for brain monitoring, especially in patients with impaired consciousness and abnormal brain electrical activity, to detect seizures and prevent complications.
