The training has the benefit of ensuring the patient's safety from falls during training, as well as making the training more successful than keeping the practice of walking on level ground. On the floor, the patient will be able to walk approximately 100-200 steps every day, while on the machine, the patient may be able to practice walking up to 800-1000 steps per day.

Many types of robots are now being developed to aid with arm and hand training for patients. Respected academic groups such as the Cochrane collaboration have decided in a global evaluation of evidence that robots have a good influence on regaining arm movement. Specifically, the robot enables the patient to conduct simultaneous movements on both forearms or wrists, resulting in a more effective treatment.
