Thigh Lift, also known as Thighplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to tighten and reshape the thighs by removing excess skin and fat. The procedure is commonly considered by patients who have loose skin around the thighs due to aging, pregnancy, or significant weight loss. At Yanhee International Hospital, Thigh Lift surgery aims to improve thigh contour and create a smoother, firmer appearance that is more balanced with the patient’s overall body shape.

Treatment Approach

Before surgery, patients meet with the surgeon to discuss their goals, medical history, expectations, and any health concerns. The surgeon will assess the amount of excess skin and fat, skin elasticity, and overall thigh condition before recommending the most suitable surgical plan.

During the procedure, the patient is placed under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes incisions in the thigh area, commonly in the groin area or along the inner thigh, depending on the patient’s condition and the amount of tissue that needs to be removed. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the remaining tissue is reshaped to create a smoother and more toned thigh contour. The incisions are then closed with sutures and covered with bandages.

Preparation Before Surgery

Patients should follow all pre-operative instructions provided by the surgeon. These may include avoiding certain medications, arranging transportation after surgery, and preparing for post-operative care. Yanhee advises patients to stop smoking, avoid alcoholic beverages, and stop taking hormonal pills, herbal supplements, and unapproved medications at least two weeks before surgery. Patients with existing medical conditions may need surgical clearance from their medical specialist before the procedure.

Recovery and Aftercare

After surgery, patients are monitored in a recovery area until the effects of anesthesia wear off. Swelling and bruising are common after Thigh Lift surgery and should gradually improve over time. Patients should follow the surgeon’s instructions for wound care, keep incision areas clean and dry, and attend all follow-up appointments to monitor healing.

Patients are usually advised to wear compression garments as instructed to reduce swelling and support recovery. Strenuous activities should be avoided until the surgeon confirms that it is safe to resume normal routines. Yanhee notes that the thighs may look and feel nearly normal in about 3 weeks, while wound healing and scar maturation may continue for 6–12 months.

Patients are generally required to stay in the hospital for 2 nights and return for follow-up after 7–10 days. Significant weight changes after surgery may affect the long-term results.

Scarring

Scarring is an important consideration in Thigh Lift surgery. Incision scars may fade over time and are often positioned so they can be hidden under underwear or swimwear. Patients with a history of keloid scarring should discuss this concern carefully with the surgeon before deciding on surgery.
