Heat Stroke: A Dangerous Condition That Comes with Hot Weather

What is Heatstroke?
Heatstroke is a common condition during hot weather, especially in summer. It occurs when the body is exposed to extreme heat, causing the body temperature to rise to a level that it can no longer regulate or control effectively
This can lead to symptoms such as headache, dizziness, seizures, irregular heartbeat, rapid breathing, or even shock
If the body cannot cool down within approximately 2 hours, it may cause serious damage to vital organs such as the heart, brain, kidneys, and muscles. Delayed treatment can be life-threatening
Symptoms of Heatstroke
๐ Extremely high body temperature (up to 40°C or higher)
๐ Headache and dizziness
๐ Little or no sweating, despite intense thirst
๐ Low blood pressure
๐ Rapid breathing and fast pulse
๐ Fatigue, nausea, vomiting
๐ Severe cases: seizures, muscle rigidity, or loss of consciousness
Who is at Risk?
๐ Children under 5 years old and the elderly (reduced ability to regulate body temperature)
๐ People with chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, heart disease)
๐ Individuals who work or exercise outdoors for long periods (e.g., farmers, athletes)
๐ Overweight or obese individuals
๐ People with insufficient rest
๐ Those who consume alcohol
How to Prevent Heatstroke
๐ Avoid outdoor activities during extreme heat
๐ Wear light-colored, loose, and breathable clothing
๐ Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee, and high-sugar drinks
๐ Drink water frequently, even if you’re not thirsty
๐ Use sunscreen or an umbrella when outdoors
In addition to the methods above, Traiya Health & Beauty Institute also offers acupuncture therapy by certified Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners, which may help:
