WHO Delivers 2.45 Million Doses of Cholera Vaccine to Myanmar

Yangon — Myanmar media reported that the country had received 2.45 million doses of oral cholera vaccine, valued at USD 4.05 million (around THB 134 million), from the World Health Organization (WHO). The vaccines were delivered in two batches to Yangon International Airport on Tuesday (Sept. 17) and Thursday (Sept. 19).

Yangon — Myanmar media reported that the country had received 2.45 million doses of oral cholera vaccine, valued at USD 4.05 million (around THB 134 million), from the World Health Organization (WHO). The vaccines were delivered in two batches to Yangon International Airport on Tuesday (Sept. 17) and Thursday (Sept. 19).

Officials from the Yangon Regional Health Department received the vaccines at the airport and transported them to a temperature-controlled vaccine storage facility in Yangon. The vaccines will be administered to people of various age groups in areas affected by cholera outbreaks.

Myanmar’s Ministry of Health also reported that in Yangon’s Hlaingthaya Township, two people had died from severe diarrhea, and over 600 had been hospitalized between July 5 and Sept. 5 this year.
