7 Steps to Prepare Before Donating Blood

 

1. Get enough sleep

Have at least 8 hours of rest before donating blood.

 

2. Be in good health

Make sure your body is strong and you are not sick or feeling unwell.

 

3. Eat a proper meal

Eat a complete meal before donating. Focus on foods rich in iron such as rice, vegetables, pork, liver, and eggs.

 

4. Drink plenty of water

Drink 3-4 glasses of water or other fluids (like fruit juice or milk) to keep your body hydrated.

 

5. Avoid alcohol

Do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before donation.

 

6. Avoid smoking

Do not smoke before and after donating blood for at least 1 hour to ensure proper lung function.

 

7. Wear comfortable clothing

Choose clothing that allows easy access to your arm, with sleeves that can be rolled up above the elbow.
