Does shampoo really help treat hair loss?

Does shampoo really help treat hair loss?

Hair loss of 100 - 200 strands is considered normal for the hair life cycle. However, if the hair loss exceeds the normal range, it means that the hair on your scalp is facing a problem and should be treated promptly before the loss worsens. Many people often look for the easiest preventive method, especially "shampoo," which is an accessible product. Many believe that it can help stop hair loss, as seen in advertisements we frequently encounter stating that shampoo nourishes hair, treats hair loss, and restores hair to its normal condition.

Can shampoo really help treat hair loss?

The main cause of hair loss is primarily due to "DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) hormone," which is a male hormone responsible for regulating the growth of hair and body hair. Whenever DHT becomes unstable, it inhibits hair growth, causing the hair to become fragile and eventually fall out. Additionally, the hair follicles also deteriorate.

Therefore, if you want to stop hair loss, you should primarily focus on the DHT hormone. To be honest, no shampoo can cure this hair loss condition. However, some properties of certain shampoos can indeed help reduce hair loss. If "you have scalp problems" rather than issues with the hair itself, such as seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, or psoriasis, which can also cause significant hair loss, shampoos can help treat the hair loss caused by scalp inflammation. But the properties of shampoos for treating hair loss are still not effective enough to completely eliminate the hair loss condition. The most effective method at this time is undoubtedly "permanent hair transplantation."

Even tho shampoo cannot help treat hair loss, some ingredients in shampoos are still better than those in other hair loss treatment products. You can choose a shampoo that won't cause your scalp to become more inflamed by selecting one that contains "Ketoconazole," which is used to treat fungal infections in the body and on the skin.

But don't forget that "shampoo cannot help treat male pattern baldness, hereditary hair loss, or other types of baldness." It only addresses issues caused by the scalp and is a temporary solution. If you have an abnormal hair loss problem, visiting a clinic to consult with a specialist would be the best and easiest solution you can do.
