Infectious Pneumonia: A Dangerous Disease That Can Be Prevented

The lungs are among the most important organs that require special care because they are vulnerable to serious diseases such as infectious pneumonia, which can be life-threatening.

Infectious pneumonia is a condition that deserves greater awareness. Understanding its causes, prevention, and treatment can help reduce the risk of infection and improve overall health.

Pneumonia occurs when viruses or bacteria enter the body and infect the lungs. One of the most common bacterial causes is Streptococcus pneumoniae. When infection develops, symptoms may include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. If left untreated, the infection may become severe, leading to respiratory failure and potentially death.

The most effective way to prevent infectious pneumonia is vaccination. To protect against viral pneumonia, individuals should receive the influenza vaccine. To reduce the risk of bacterial pneumonia, vaccination against Streptococcus pneumoniae is recommended, as this bacterium is one of the leading causes of pneumonia.

People aged 65 years and older are at greater risk of developing pneumonia than other age groups and should take special care to protect their respiratory health.

Have you ever had these symptoms? Snoring so loudly that the person next to you has to wake you up in the middle of the night, waking up in the morning not feeling refreshed, feeling unusually sleepy during the day, falling asleep easily while working, watching TV, or driving. Some people may experience sudden awakening, gasping for breath in the middle of the night, dry mouth, dry throat, morning headaches, or feeling exhausted throughout the day. These symptoms may seem like small matters, but they could actually be warning signs of sleep apnea.

Snoring or poor sleep may seem normal, but in some cases they can be signs of sleep apnea, a condition that affects overall health and quality of life. A Sleep Test is an important method for evaluating abnormalities during sleep and helping healthcare providers develop an appropriate treatment plan.
