45+ Ageism AI Human Value

Age 45+ is not the end of work, but the beginning of becoming a Cyborg Workforce

By Dr. Kengpong Tangaroonsanti Chersery Home International

Recently, many have heard news about companies refusing to hire people aged 45 and above. This reflects the reality of Ageism age-based discrimination in labor markets both in Thailand and abroad.

But I see it differently.

Experience is invaluable life capital.

People aged 45+ have worked, failed, built teams, and solved complex problems countless times. These are treasures of wisdom not found in textbooks and most importantly, AI can never fully replace them.

AI is not a tool meant to replace humans. In another perspective, it is a wing that extends human capability but only for those who adapt. If we empower people 45+ with AI knowledge, they will no longer be seen as outdated.

Instead, they will transform into a Cyborg Workforce a hybrid of human experience and AI speed.

Imagine this:

  • A service leader who deeply understands customers, enhanced by AI-powered behavioral analytics.
  • An executive with strong negotiation skills, supported by AI that delivers real-time business insights.
  • A healthcare professional with compassion in patient care, using AI to assess risks and recommend treatments.

This is a new force and it can truly happen.

The Benefits for Organizations

Especially in service industries and healthcare, where the heart of work is human connection: understanding, empathy, and communication. These cannot be replaced by technical skills alone.

If organizations open opportunities for people aged 45+ who are ready to embrace AI, they immediately gain a double advantage:

  • Employees with deep experience, human understanding, and life wisdom.
  • A more productive workforce empowered by AI.

The outcome? Better services, more humanized care, and stronger customer trust.

The Impact on Society

If we can build a true AI Upskilling Model for 45+, it wont just create jobs for this generation it will restore dignity and value to a workforce once considered obsolete.

It will also enable the country to harness a vast human resource filled with experience instead of letting it fade away in the waves of global change.

My Final Message

People aged 45+ are not outdated.
They are the foundation of society.

If we integrate AI into their work, they can become a Super Workforce driving growth far beyond what younger workers with only technical skills but little life experience can achieve.

This is the vision I believe in, and the future I want to see realized within organizations and across Thai society.
