Five Serious Diseases Caused by Smoking

STOP SMOKING - Stop Harming Yourself and Those Around You

1. Lung Cancer

The leading cause of lung cancer is cigarette smoking. Tobacco smoke damages lung tissue and causes DNA mutations, leading to the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells.

2. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Long-term smoking destroys the alveoli, reducing the lungs' ability to exchange oxygen. As a result, the body receives insufficient oxygen, causing shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, particularly during physical activity.

3. Pneumonia

Smoking increases the risk of pneumonia.

- Infectious pneumonia: Caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungi.

- Non-infectious pneumonia: Caused by inhalation of substances that irritate the respiratory tract, resulting in inflammation of the lungs.

4. Diabetes Mellitus

Smoking increases the risk of diabetes mellitus because chemicals in tobacco smoke can reduce the effectiveness of insulin, leading to impaired glucose regulation.

5. Stroke

Smoking increases the risk of stroke by promoting vascular inflammation and increasing the likelihood of blood clot formation. Research has shown that approximately 20% of stroke patients have a history of direct cigarette smoking.

Appendicitis in Children!!

Appendicitis in Children This is a dangerous condition that requires rapid diagnosis and treatment. Because children have thinner appendiceal walls than adults, the appendix is more prone to rupture or perforate. This can lead to severe complications, such as an abdominal infection (peritonitis) or a bloodstream infection (sepsis), which can be life-threatening.
