What is Egg Freezing?

Egg freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation, is a process in which a woman’s eggs are retrieved, frozen, and stored for future use. It is a reliable fertility preservation method for women who are not yet ready to conceive but want to maintain their reproductive potential.

At Bangkok Central Clinic, we use advanced vitrification technology, which rapidly freezes eggs to preserve their structure and function. When the time comes, eggs can be thawed, fertilized through IVF or ICSI, and transferred to the uterus. Egg freezing provides reproductive independence and helps reduce the impact of age-related fertility decline.

Who Should Consider Egg Freezing?

Opting for egg freezing in Bangkok offers women and couples flexibility and peace of mind when planning their families. It is an empowering choice for those who wish to preserve fertility and keep their options open for the future. Consider egg freezing if:

๐ You wish to delay pregnancy for career, personal, or health reasons
๐ You are undergoing medical treatment, such as chemotherapy or radiation, that may affect fertility
๐ You are planning for future family building and family planning

Egg Freezing Process: Step by Step

1. Initial Consultation & Screening: A fertility specialist will review your health and fertility history and perform diagnostic tests, including hormone blood work and an ultrasound.
2. Ovarian Stimulation: Daily hormone injections are prescribed for 8–12 days to stimulate egg production.
3. Monitoring: Follicle growth and egg development are monitored through regular ultrasounds and hormone testing.
4. Egg Retrieval: Mature eggs are collected under light sedation, typically in a 20-30 minute procedure. An ultrasound probe guides a needle to collect the eggs from the follicles.
5. Vitrification (Freezing): In our embryology laboratory, eggs are frozen using rapid-cooling technology to prevent ice crystal formation.
6. Storage: Frozen eggs are stored in liquid nitrogen tanks at extremely low temperatures in our advanced laboratory until you are ready to use them.
7. Thawing & Fertilization: When you are ready to use your eggs, they are thawed and fertilized with sperm (through IVF), and the resulting embryo(s) are then transferred to the uterus.
