Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PGT) at Bangkok Central Clinic

PGT Process: Step by Step

• ๐ Ovarian Stimulation & Egg Retrieval: The IVF cycle begins with stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Once the eggs are mature, they are surgically retrieved from the ovaries under ultrasound guidance. 

• ๐ Fertilization: The retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm in a laboratory, which can be done conventionally or using Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). 

• ๐ Embryo Culture: The fertilized eggs, now called embryos, are cultured in a lab for several days until they reach the blastocyst stage (days 5-6), a more developed form with about 100-200 cells. 

• ๐ Embryo Biopsy: A few cells (3-10 cells) are carefully removed from the trophectoderm (the part of the embryo that will develop into the placenta) of each blastocyst. 

• ๐ Genetic Analysis: The biopsied cells are sent to a specialized genetic laboratory for testing to detect any chromosomal or genetic abnormalities. 

• ๐ Embryo Freezing: The embryos that are biopsied are then frozen for later use while the genetic analysis is completed. 

• ๐ Results and Selection: After about 7-10 days, the lab provides the results, identifying which embryos are genetically healthy (euploid).

• ๐ Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET): A healthy, euploid embryo is thawed and transferred into the uterus during a subsequent cycle to initiate pregnancy.
