Bangkok has been recognized as one of the world’s top cities for Generation Z, according to Time Out’s annual ranking, which identifies the best urban environments for young adults under 30.
The ranking is based on a comprehensive survey of over 18,500 locals worldwide, examining factors such as happiness, affordability, nightlife, cultural offerings, access to green spaces, and walkability. Responses from Gen Z participants were analyzed separately to highlight the cities where today’s young adults thrive.
Bangkok topped the list in several categories, including happiness—with 84 percent of respondents expressing satisfaction with life in the city—and affordability, with 71 percent noting that it is a budget-friendly place to live. The Thai capital was also highlighted as a city where it is easy to make new friends, reflecting its vibrant social atmosphere and welcoming environment for young people.
Other cities ranking highly include Melbourne (Australia), Cape Town (South Africa), New York City (USA), and Copenhagen (Denmark). These cities were praised for their cultural diversity, accessible arts and entertainment, quality of life, and well-developed public transport.
The report underscores Bangkok’s growing appeal as a hub for young professionals and students, combining modern urban amenities with an affordable cost of living and rich cultural experiences. It also highlights the city’s position as a global destination for Generation Z seeking a balanced lifestyle that integrates work, social life, and leisure.
