Bangkok – On Saturday, 24 January 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Kulabutr Komenkul, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of the ArokaGO platform, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Thai Medical and Wellness Tourism Association (TMWTA), received the Scottish Alumni Award 2026 – Innovation Award from the Scottish Alumni Association Thailand at the Scottish Alumni Reunion 2026. The event was held at the Grand Ballroom, Grande Centre Point Terminal 21 Hotel, and brought together more than 200 Scottish alumni from various institutions and generations.

The Scottish Alumni Award 2026 was officially established for the first time to honour Scottish alumni who have achieved outstanding success and made significant contributions to society across multiple dimensions. In its inaugural year, more than 30 alumni from across Thailand were nominated. After a rigorous review process, the selection committee awarded honours in three main categories: Community Impact Award, Leadership Award, and Innovation Award. Among these, the Innovation Award is the most competitive category, focusing on work that demonstrates the effective use of technology and innovation particularly artificial intelligence (AI) to create tangible, system-level change.

The committee unanimously selected Assistant Professor Dr. Kulabutr Komenkul, an alumnus of Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom, as the sole recipient of the Innovation Award 2026. The award recognises his innovative work on “ArokaGO: AI-Native Medical and Wellness Tourism Platform,” a technology platform designed to elevate Thailand’s medical and wellness tourism industry. By integrating AI, data analytics, and AI-driven smart matching systems, ArokaGO connects patients and wellness travellers from around the world with Thai hospitals, clinics, and wellness service providers in an efficient and transparent manner.
Currently, ArokaGO partners with more than 200 leading hospitals, clinics, and health service providers, and in 2025 alone recorded over 500,000 users from across the globe. The platform has also been recognised among the Top 20 Medical Tourism Platforms worldwide, reflecting its growing international impact and competitiveness.
In addition to his role as CEO and Co-Founder of ArokaGO, Assistant Professor Dr. Kulabutr Komenkul serves as a lecturer in Finance, Investment, and Financial Technology at the College of Innovative Business and Accountancy, Dhurakij Pundit University. His work spans academia, policy, and innovation, integrating financial knowledge, technology, and the healthcare industry. Following the award ceremony, he stated that the recognition serves as a powerful source of encouragement and a reminder that innovations originating from academic ideas when developed consistently and in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders can grow into systems that create meaningful positive impact for the country. He reaffirmed ArokaGO’s commitment to continuous development, with the goal of positioning Healthcare, Technology, and Trust as key strengths of Thailand on the global stage.

Receiving the Scottish Alumni Award 2026 Innovation Award not only honours individual achievement, but also highlights the role of a new generation of Thai academics and entrepreneurs who translate international knowledge into practical innovations that deliver tangible value to the nation’s economy and society.
