The Ministry of Public Health has joined forces with the Thai Life Assurance Association to enhance the capacity of public hospitals in delivering voluntary health insurance services with greater efficiency, transparency, and standardized quality. The collaboration strengthens policy-level cooperation between the public and private sectors, creating a more integrated financial and economic network within Thailand’s healthcare system. A total of 28 hospitals will serve as initial pilot sites before expanding nationwide.

The Minister of Public Health has officially opened the Organ and Bone Marrow Transplant Center at Rajavithi Hospital, marking a major step toward establishing a national specialty institute dedicated to organ donation and transplantation. The initiative aims to strengthen Thailand’s organ donation system and significantly expand kidney transplant capacity across regional health service zones. The Ministry is also driving proactive measures to identify brain-dead organ donors in 134 affiliated hospitals nationwide, with a target of developing kidney-retrieval surgical teams in every health region and increasing regional kidney transplant surgeries to 440 cases annually. Meanwhile, Rajavithi Hospital’s Robotic Surgery Center has already performed over 1,100 procedures and continues to serve as a national training hub for advanced robotic surgery.
