At SAFE Fertility Group, we provide advanced fertility treatment through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), supported by experienced fertility specialists, embryologists, advanced laboratory technology, and personalized care throughout every step of the treatment journey.
IVF and ICSI are assisted reproductive technologies designed to help individuals and couples who are experiencing infertility or facing difficulties conceiving naturally. At SAFE, each treatment plan is carefully customized based on the patient’s medical condition, reproductive goals, and individual needs.
In Vitro Fertilization, commonly known as IVF, is a fertility treatment in which a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm are combined outside the body in a laboratory.
The term “in vitro” means “outside the body,” while “fertilization” means that the sperm has attached to and entered the egg. During IVF, mature eggs are collected from the ovaries and placed together with selected sperm in a laboratory dish under controlled conditions.
When fertilization occurs, the resulting embryo is carefully monitored by embryologists. Once the embryo is ready, it is transferred back into the uterine cavity, where it can continue to develop naturally.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, or ICSI, is an advanced fertilization technique often used together with IVF.
Unlike conventional IVF, where eggs and sperm are placed together and fertilization occurs naturally in the laboratory dish, ICSI involves the direct injection of a single selected sperm into a mature egg using a fine microneedle.
This technique allows the embryologist to select one healthy sperm and inject it directly into the egg to support fertilization. Once the embryo develops to the appropriate stage, it can be transferred into the uterus.
ICSI is commonly recommended in cases where male fertility factors are involved, such as low sperm count, poor sperm movement, or abnormal sperm shape.
The key difference between IVF and ICSI is the way fertilization takes place.
In conventional IVF, eggs and sperm are placed together in a laboratory dish and the sperm fertilizes the egg naturally under controlled laboratory conditions.
In ICSI, one carefully selected sperm is directly injected into one mature egg by an embryologist.
Because ICSI can help overcome several male infertility factors, it has become a widely used technique for couples who may have difficulty achieving fertilization through traditional IVF.
IVF/ICSI may be suitable for individuals or couples experiencing various fertility challenges, including:
Women with blocked or narrowed fallopian tubes
Women with severe endometriosis
Men with low sperm count
Men with low sperm motility
Men with poor sperm morphology or abnormally shaped sperm
Men with obstruction that prevents sperm release, such as after vasectomy
Men with unsuccessful vasectomy reversal or very poor sperm quality
Couples who have experienced multiple failed IUI cycles
Couples with unexplained infertility after more than 3 years of trying to conceive
Individuals or couples with certain genetic conditions
Couples who require advanced embryo or genetic evaluation as part of treatment planning
A consultation with a fertility specialist is recommended to determine whether IVF, ICSI, or another fertility treatment option is most appropriate.
Before starting IVF/ICSI treatment, SAFE Fertility Group provides a detailed evaluation for both female and male partners. Proper preparation helps the medical team design the most suitable treatment plan and improve the overall treatment process.
The doctor will schedule an appointment to evaluate the ovaries and assess their readiness for stimulation. This may include blood tests and ultrasound examinations.
The person supplying the eggs will receive hormone medication injections for approximately 8–10 days, depending on individual response.
During this phase, patients may be asked to visit the clinic around 2–3 times for monitoring through blood tests and ultrasound scans. Based on the results, the doctor may adjust the medication dosage or treatment plan.
Once the eggs have reached the appropriate size and maturity, the doctor will schedule the egg retrieval procedure.
The male partner will provide a semen sample on the day of the fertilization procedure.
It is generally recommended to avoid ejaculation for approximately 2–5 days before sperm collection to help ensure an appropriate sample.
After collection, the semen sample will be sent immediately to the laboratory for sperm preparation, commonly known as sperm washing. This process helps separate healthy sperm from semen fluid and removes substances that may affect fertilization or the reproductive process.
The fertility specialist reviews the couple’s medical history, previous treatment records, reproductive goals, and recommends necessary investigations.
Hormonal medication is used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs.
Ultrasound scans and blood tests are performed to monitor follicle development and hormone levels.
When the eggs are ready, they are collected from the ovaries through a medical procedure performed by the fertility specialist.
A semen sample is collected and processed in the laboratory to select suitable sperm for fertilization.
Depending on the treatment plan, fertilization is performed using conventional IVF or ICSI.
The embryos are cultured and monitored in the laboratory by experienced embryologists.
A selected embryo is transferred into the uterine cavity at the appropriate stage.
After embryo transfer, the medical team provides follow-up care and schedules a pregnancy test to assess the treatment outcome.
