DPU Organizes 7th SMART WELLNESS & AESTHETIC Conference to Promote Alternative Medicine and the Beauty Industry Toward Becoming a Medical Hub

On July 29, 2025, the College of Integrative Medicine (CIMw) at Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) hosted the opening ceremony of the 7th SMART National Academic Conference under the theme "Wellness and Aesthetic Revolution." Held from July 29–30, 2025, the conference aimed to advance knowledge in anti-aging medicine, alternative medicine, Thai traditional medicine, and aesthetic medicine—fields that play a crucial role in promoting proactive healthcare, reducing disease burden and healthcare costs, and improving long-term quality of life.

This year’s focus was on integrating health systems into modern lifestyles at individual, community, and policy levels. The event featured the participation of senior university administrators and notable representatives from both public and private healthcare sectors, reflecting strong collaboration between academia and policymakers in advancing Thailand’s public health system sustainably in the global era.

A keynote speech at the event highlighted that the 7th SMART Conference serves as a vital platform for integrating knowledge in healthcare, aesthetics, and nutrition, as well as national-level policies on Thai traditional medicine, alternative medicine, and wellness tourism. The ultimate goal is to help Thailand evolve into a fully developed Medical Hub. The conference also facilitated exchange of ideas among researchers, scholars, professionals, and interested parties to foster the development of new knowledge, inform policy, and support commercial and societal applications.

Promoting the wellness and beauty industries was emphasized as a key driver of income generation, grassroots economic strengthening, and regional job creation. The Ministry of Public Health expressed its commitment to pushing policies and supporting collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions to improve the quality of life for Thai citizens in every dimension.

The university’s president welcomed attendees to the SMART WELLNESS & AESTHETIC APPLICATION 2025, stating that this year's event, under the theme "Smart Wellness & Aesthetic Application: The Revolution of Health and Beauty," reflects the global trend toward prioritizing holistic wellness, beauty, and quality of life. The university remains committed to continuously advancing knowledge, teaching, and research—especially in health science and professional health-related fields.

The university has established and launched several programs in health and beauty through various colleges. The College of Integrative Medicine offers programs in anti-aging medicine, aesthetic medicine, holistic health, Thai traditional medicine, cosmetic science, and dietary supplements. Additional programs in nursing, optometry, physical therapy, and medical technology aim to produce graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and compassionate mindset needed to meet evolving global healthcare demands effectively.

The SMART WELLNESS & AESTHETIC APPLICATION Conference serves as a key platform for sharing, exchanging, and applying knowledge generated from education and research. It enables students, researchers, and academics to present their work in health and beauty-related fields, and features special lectures from experts on contemporary topics that respond to the needs of Thai and global society.

The dean of the College of Integrative Medicine explained that the SMART conference was first held in 2019 with the objective of fostering knowledge exchange among academics, students, and health professionals. The content has been updated annually to align with national and international health trends and has garnered increasing interest from the healthcare community.

Since 2022, the conference has expanded to include content on aesthetic medicine following the launch of the Bachelor of Science in Aesthetic Science program. In 2025, the college introduced several additional programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels—eight programs in total—covering health, physical care, nutrition, anti-aging, beauty, and entrepreneurship in the health and beauty industry.

This year's conference adopted a hybrid format, held both onsite and online, with approximately 600 participants including faculty, students, alumni, researchers, scholars, and medical personnel from both the public and private sectors across the country. The event featured two main components:

1. Special lectures by distinguished experts in various fields such as yoga, anti-aging medicine, nutrition, and holistic medicine.

2. Presentations of completed academic work at the graduate level, including theses, independent studies, and academic papers, covering topics in anti-aging, health sciences, beauty, and related fields.
