Siriraj Health Policy Team Promotes “No Falls for Seniors” Program with Treadmill Training Video Shoot at DBC Spine Clinic & Gym

Bangkok - On April 29, 2025, at DBC Spine Clinic & Gym (Q House), the research team from the Siriraj Health Policy Unit, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, conducted a video shoot demonstrating the use of the “No Falls for Seniors” rehabilitation manual. The video features treadmill-based balance training combined with a body weight support system (Body Weight Supported Treadmill Training: BWSTT).

The “No Falls for Seniors” guideline was developed by Assistant Prof.Parit Wongphaet, M.D., a rehabilitation medicine specialist at Samrong General Hospital and the Samrong Ruamjai Foundation. The guideline integrates essential knowledge on selecting appropriate assistive devices, planning walking exercises, and improving balance for the elderly. It covers comprehensive aspects of fall prevention, including fall risk assessment, evaluation of balance and gait, and safe treadmill training with body weight support tailored to each individual.

This demonstration is part of the research project titled “Evaluation of Clinical Effectiveness, Cost-Effectiveness, and Feasibility of Ambulatory Training Using BWSTT in Older Adults at Risk of Falls,” supported by the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS). The project aims to provide critical data for policy-level decisions and future integration into Thailand’s national public health strategies.

The filming took place at DBC Spine Clinic & Gym, Thailand’s first specialized rehabilitation clinic for musculoskeletal pain using advanced technology from DBC International, Finland. The clinic offers treatment for chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain, delivered by rehabilitation physicians and physical therapists under hospital-grade standards.

The clinic’s medical team has received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Support and Active Rehabilitation techniques in accordance with DBC International protocols. Treatment outcomes are consistently monitored and benchmarked against international DBC clinics to ensure quality and effectiveness.

This collaboration represents a significant step forward in linking rehabilitation science with health policy to enhance the well-being and safety of Thailand’s aging population.
