"Can gray hair be used for hair transplantation?"

"Can gray hair be used for hair transplantation?"

As we age, hair problems tend to follow, whether it's hair loss, thinning hair, baldness, and more. But there's one more thing that comes with aging: "gray hair." Many times, patients have questions and often ask at the clinic, "Can gray hair be used for hair transplants?" Because many patients are concerned that hair transplantation requires only black hair.

What causes gray hair?

As we age, our hair starts to lose its pigment. When the pigment decreases, it begins to turn gray more.

If the pigment completely disappears, our hair will turn completely white. This pigment is called "melanin," which is produced by cells in the hair follicles known as "melanocytes." Over time, melanocytes produce less and less melanin, starting around the age of 40-50 for most people. However, for some, it may begin as early as 20-30 years old. Gray hair usually starts at the temples and gradually spreads throughout the scalp.

Can gray hair be used for hair transplantation?

Many people often misunderstand gray hair, thinking it is caused by health problems that turn the hair white and cannot be used for hair transplants. However, the truth is that whether it is gray hair or normal black hair, they are equally strong. The only difference is the hair color.

Therefore, the question of whether gray hair can be used for hair transplantation? The answer is "definitely yes" because gray hair can not only be used for hair transplantation but is also suitable for hair transplant surgery just like black hair. The hair that grows back after the transplant will still be white, not black. Additionally, using gray hair for transplantation does not affect the regrowth after the procedure. This means that if we choose to use gray hair for the transplant, the results will be just as satisfactory as using normal black hair.

FUE can treat baldness! Is it true?

Baldness is a concern for many men, regardless of their age, as the loss of hair to the point of complete baldness negatively impacts their confidence and overall image. Baldness not only affects the external appearance but also has an impact on internal emotions. If one is looking for a solution to this issue, "hair transplantation" might be the most suitable option.
