Long Stay O-A Visa: The Path to a Comfortable Life in Thailand (1-Year)


Are you over 50 years old and thinking about living in Thailand for an extended period? The Long Stay O-A Visa could be the perfect option for you. Here’s everything you need to know to start your new chapter in the Land of Smiles.

 

Eligibility for the Long Stay O-A Visa


To apply for the Long Stay O-A Visa, you must meet the following criteria:

 

1. Age Requirement:

Applicants must be 50 years or older at the time of application.

 

2. National Security:

Applicants must not have a criminal record or pose a threat to the security of Thailand or their home country.

 

3. Health Requirements:

You should not have any of the following prohibited diseases (as per Ministry of Health regulations):

๐ Leprosy

๐ Active tuberculosis

๐ Elephantiasis

๐​ Drug addiction

๐​ Third-stage syphilis

 

 

4. Work Restrictions:

You cannot work while holding the Long Stay O-A Visa in Thailand.

 

5. Other Requirements:

๐ Nationality: Available for applicants from various countries.

๐ Financial Requirements: You must have a bank account in Thailand with a balance of at least 800,000 Baht, or proof of a monthly income of 65,000 Baht or more.

 

Visa Details


๐ Visa Validity: The visa is granted for 90 days per entry, with a maximum stay of 1 year per visa.

๐ Visa Fee: The application fee is 5,000 Baht.

๐ Application Locations: You can apply for the O-A visa at Thai embassies or consulates in your home country, or online at www.thaievisa.go.th.

 

Required Documents for the Application


1. Valid Passport: Must be valid for at least 18 months.


2. Completed Application Form: Includes personal history and passport-sized photos (3 sets).


3. Financial Evidence:
๐ Bank statement showing at least 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank account.

๐ Alternatively, proof of monthly income or pension of 65,000 Baht or more.

 

4. Criminal Record Certificate: Must be from your country of origin or the country of your permanent residence (valid within 3 months).


5. Medical Certificate: Must confirm you are free of prohibited diseases, with a certificate issued within the last 3 months.


6. Health Insurance: Must provide proof of health insurance that covers medical expenses up to 3 million Baht (including coverage for COVID-19).


7. Marriage Certificate: If bringing a spouse who cannot apply for this visa, they can receive an O Visa for 3 months.

 


Additional Information


๐ In-Country Registration: After entering Thailand, you must report to immigration every 90 days. You can report in person or by mail.

๐ Extending Your Stay: After 1 year, you can extend your visa for another year by proving continued financial support (either through bank deposits or monthly income).
