Bangkok, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially launched Thailand Health Excellence 2026: The Next Chapter of Global Healing, a new national initiative aimed at strengthening Thailand's position as a leading global destination for health, wellness, and healing.
Held at the Conrad Ballroom, Conrad Bangkok, the launch brought together stakeholders from the tourism, healthcare, wellness, academic, and research sectors, as well as international partners, to showcase Thailand's growing capabilities in integrated health and wellness tourism.
The initiative highlights Thailand's strengths across three strategic pillars:
The project is being promoted internationally under the campaign "Healing is the New Luxury," reflecting the global shift toward wellness-focused travel and positioning Thailand as a destination that offers comprehensive experiences in treatment, recovery, and holistic healing.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, stated that the agency is committed to elevating Thailand's image as a Global Health & Healing Destination and fully supports the Thailand Health Excellence 2026 initiative through collaboration among leading hospitals, wellness operators, educational institutions, research organizations, and tourism partners.

She noted that modern health tourism is increasingly centered on seamlessly integrating treatment, recovery, and healing experiences. The initiative aims to meet the needs of today's travelers, who seek experiences that restore health, rejuvenate the body and mind, and enhance overall quality of life.
"Thailand possesses unique strengths in medical excellence, preventive healthcare, scientifically developed local wisdom, cultural charm, hospitality, and service standards. Together, these elements create meaningful healing experiences and reinforce Thailand's potential to become one of the world's leading health and wellness destinations," Ms. Thapanee said.
A highlight of the event was the Medical Innovation Talks (Doctor's Talk) session, featuring five of Thailand's leading medical and wellness experts:
The discussions covered a broad range of topics, including aesthetic innovation, cancer care, brain health in aging societies, healthy longevity, and the global advancement of Thai traditional medicine, demonstrating Thailand's comprehensive capabilities in medical care, wellness, and healing.

One of the project's major milestones is the first-ever collaboration between TAT and Siriraj Hospital, showcasing the Siriraj Sappaya-Sthana Center for Thai Traditional Medicine and the development of Dialysis-Friendly Long Stay Thailand, a program designed to support international patients requiring kidney dialysis during extended stays in Thailand.
The initiative also introduced Surf Therapy: The Wave of Healing, the first program of its kind in Thailand, developed in collaboration with Waves for Change, with Phang Nga Province serving as the pilot destination.
In addition, Thailand Health Excellence 2026 aims to strengthen global healthcare connectivity through partnerships with ArokaGO, Thailand's AI-powered medical and wellness tourism platform, and the development of ThailandHealthX.com, a comprehensive digital gateway for health and wellness tourism information and services in Thailand.

As global healthcare trends increasingly move beyond treatment toward prevention, recovery, emotional wellbeing, and longevity, Thailand Health Excellence 2026 represents a significant step in positioning Thailand as a destination where healthcare, wellness, and hospitality converge.
Under the concept "Where the World Is in Good Hands," the initiative seeks to redefine Thailand's role in global health tourism and establish the country as one of the world's premier destinations for integrated healing experiences.
