Semen analysis is a key diagnostic test in evaluating male fertility. The analysis also measures the presence of any abnormalities or signs of infection. This test is often one of the first steps in fertility evaluation for couples trying to conceive. A semen sample is collected, typically through masturbation, and then analyzed in a lab. Low sperm count, poor motility, or abnormal morphology can all impact a man’s ability to father a child.
